She grinned up at him. “Fine, Sir. Thanks for checking on me. I was about to give Bradley a tour.”
Peter offered Bradley his hand. “I’m Peter, head of security.”
“Bradley. New in town. Something tells me you’re here to check up on me.”
Darci put a hand on Bradley’s shoulder. “He’s an overprotective oaf sometimes. I got into a bad spot with a Dom not too long ago. He’s just making sure I’m OK.”
Bradley smiled at her and it nearly stopped her heart. His face was gorgeous without the smile, but with it he was electric and that electricity shot straight to her clit. “I think it’s good that you have people watching over you.”
Turning to Peter, he said, “I’ll take good care of her and won’t even try to take her home with me. At least not tonight.” He tossed a wink at Darci.
Darci stood and leaned up to kiss Peter’s cheek. “Go play with your wife, Peter. I’m fine. I swear.”
Peter kissed her forehead and swatted her ass, sending her into a fit of giggles.
“You’re close with him,” Bradley observed as Peter walked away.
Darci nodded. “It’s true. His wife is my dearest friend, and we’ve been together in the past. It’s a fluid dynamic though. Enough about that. Let’s start that tour. I want to show you the library.”
Bradley raised an eyebrow. “A library in a BDSM club?”
Darci grinned. “It’s my favorite room in the place.”
He laced his fingers through hers and warmth slithered through her. “Lead the way.”
She led him through the club and down the hall toward the library tucked into the back of the building. As they passed various play rooms, a woman stepped out of one of them and froze when she spotted Bradley and Darci.
Darci grinned, recognizing the woman, but Bradley tensed.
“Marlie. I didn’t know you were a member here.”
Marlie gave him a small smile. “Yep. Doesn’t surprise me you made your way here.” She turned her attention to Darci.
“How are you, gorgeous?”
Darci let go of Bradley’s hand and kissed her on the cheek. “I’m good. I want to talk about work stuff sometime. I have ideas.”
Marlie squeezed her tight and kissed her forehead. “OK. We’ll talk soon I should get in there and find someone to play with. Bye Bradley. It was good to see you again.” She blew him a kiss and headed toward the main dungeon.
Darci gave him a saucy grin when they were alone again. “Ex of yours?”
Bradley chuckled. “Not even a little bit. I knew her through my family. The library, Miss Sanders?”
Darci nodded and pulled him further down the hall. She pushed open the large wooden door of the library and led him inside.
“It’s beautiful. I can see why it’s your favorite in the place.” He looked around, taking everything in.
Darci nodded, smiling. “I love to read, and this room is like a wet dream come true. I want to have one like it in my house some day. I love everything about this club, but this is my happy place.”
“What do you read?” He dragged his hands along the spines of a row of books.
“I love a bit of everything. Memoirs are fun because they give me a glimpse into the heads of people I’ll never have an excuse to talk to. Romance is just a fun escape, especially if it’s set in some exotic location. And of course, a good political tell-all is hard to resist in this town.” She winked and flashed him a smile as she crossed to her favorite shelf and pulled a collection of essays on kink and spirituality.
“I think a lot of these sum me up pretty well.”
He took the book and turned it in his hands. “I’ve never read this. Are there a lot of books on kink like this?”
Her eyes went wide, and she waved at the shelf she’d just pulled from. “So many. I can make you a reading list if you’ve never read any. That reminds me it’s almost time to put another reading list up on my blog.”
