Page 12 of Not Your Romeo
“They said you put Zander in the hospital.” She finally peeked my way.
“That your boyfriend or something?”
“He’s a douchebag, street gangster from twenty-second street.”
“Oh yeah. I remember that soft-chinned pussy. He’s the one that tried to have my kid pushing fentanyl for him.” I shrugged, “Not remotely sorry. If I’m being honest, there wasn't really much to it. It was a quick combo. I broke his jaw with the first shot and woke him back up with the second.”
She was enthralled by my story and came off her seat a quarter inch when Henny ripped her door open.
“What the fuck?” she sounded off.
“Yeah, I missed you, too, darlin’.” Henny returned, before issuing a direct order, “Now, fuck off.”
“Excuse me?” Ro’s eyes bugged as she started to sass, but Henny was already hauling her skinny ass out of the car, leaving her to squeal the last part.
I shoved a finger up and tried to get it together, but fuck I was coughing not to laugh as Henny slammed the door and locked it, leaving her in open disbelief outside the car.
“What–the– fuck?” he quietly demanded.
“Hmm?” I dropped my attention from my pouting wife to my pissed-off Vice President.
“You are not fucking married,” Henny deadpanned.
“Oh, I am.” I held up my ring for him to observe.
He snatched my wrist and stared at it.
“Jesus.” Henny huffed. “You’ve lost your goddamn mind, is that it?”
“She’s Sean’s assassin’s sister.” I filled in all the blanks with four little words.
Henny’s arm settled on the middle console, and he gave his weight over to it, before asking, “A peace treaty?”
“Yeah.” I glanced up to check, and Ro was still shooting daggers at us through the window.
“You want to suck his dick while you’re at it, you jealous bitch?” She threw both hands up and Henny whipped around in disbelief just as she cooed. “He’ll still be mine.”
“If you don’t beat her ass,” he drawled under his breath, still staring back at her.
“Yeah. If Sean wasn’t looming over my daughter and your brother, I’d love every minute of taming that one, but something tells me he’s still calling the shots while they’re on the road.”
Henny turned back, just as something shot toward Ro. My eyes bugged and I scrambled to get out of the car as all hell broke loose outside.
“Get her the fuck off me,” Ro screamed, flailing around with Rumi on her back. She slung the both of them over and mounted up, but stopped short when she saw it was a child attacking her. Rumi gave no such mercy. She caught Ro in the nose with a cross hook.
“Don’t you ever talk to my dad like that!” Rumi shrieked as Henny caught her arm and slung her out from under Ro.
“Get in the house. Now.” He urged her along, offering an apologetic hand in the air to us.
I waved him off and gestured to the car.
“Come on. Let’s get the hell out of here.”
