He waggled his brows. “Nothing, hon.”
I undid the tie for my dress, opening it to reveal the chemise Amice had gotten me. It took some doing, but I managed to worm my way out of the dress.
Drest’s already sexy smile widened. “Purple is my favorite color. It’s a Nightshade thing.”
I made a mental note to thank my sister-in-law.
Drest moved onto the bed, and I opened my legs for him. He settled over me and lowered his head, kissing me tenderly. He guided himself into me slowly at first.
I arched my back, moaning softly.
Drest kissed my neck and shoulder, using his teeth to move the strap of my chemise down, baring my shoulder and one breast to him. He eased into me more, his mouth returning to mine.
As our tongues circled, he stopped being slow and sweet in his approach, leaving me crying out in his mouth and grabbing his back.
He stopped the kiss, but not his movements. “Sorry…hon. Mating frenzy.”
I had no idea what he was talking about and honestly didn’t care.
He froze, looking pained by doing so. He gritted his teeth. “Rachael… you need to decide. Do you want a life with me?”
I slapped at his upper arms. “Keep going. Don’t stop.”
He smirked. “I will, hon. Trust me, it’s taking everything I have to restrain from continuing. But I need to know if you’re good with being mine for good.”
“Drest?”
He winched. “Hon, I need an answer. I can only hold off the need to claim you for so long.”
Claim me?
“Like a mate?” I asked.
“Yes,” he whispered, lowering his head, his lips brushing mine. “Exactly like a mate.”
“But I can’t be your…”
He tensed. “Rachael, yes, or no?”
“Yes!”
He stopped holding back, and it was at that point I realized just how much he’d been restraining before. I also got a little worried he’d break my bed. Since it felt amazing, I wasn’t exactly upset with the idea. Wrapping my legs around his waist, I clung to him as he began moving in and out of me harder.
Everything felt right. As if we’d been made for one another.
Drest began speaking to me, but not in English. I wasn’t exactly fluent in the various Fae dialects but having Hunters assigned to my family the whole of my life had left me able to spot it when I heard it. While I wasn’t sure what he was saying, it sounded beautiful and left me instantly feeling as if my entire body was buzzing with energy.
His mouth crashed down on mine. His kiss was greedy yet amazing. He pumped into me, never breaking our kiss. Clinging to him, I shattered, whimpering into his mouth as he increased his pace.
I was the one who broke the kiss as the aftershocks of my zenith struck. The lights in the room began to spark and flicker.
Drest grabbed my arms and slid his hands down the length of them before taking my hands in his. He lifted my hands, putting them on both sides of my head as he kept moving in and out of me, his gaze locked on my face.
His ring began to glow, casting purple light over us both. Drest didn’t seem very surprised by what was happening around us, and what he was doing felt too good for me to stop him to question it all.
Pleasure rushed through me, and I cried out in his arms.
He jerked, and his jaw went slack a moment before he found his release as well.
