He chuckled. “I want you too. Trust me.”

She tried to free her wrists.

He didn’t release them. He held them with one hand, using his other to skim her cheek, neck, and then over her chest. He pushed open the deep V of it, freeing one of her breasts. Cupping it, Drest went for her mouth again, kissing her to the point she stopped trying to get her hands free.

She lifted a leg, wrapping it around his waist as he palmed her breast. She broke the kiss. “Let me touch you. Please.”

Giving in, Drest released her wrists, assuming she’d go back to touching his bare chest. When the vixen’s hands went right to the front of his slacks, his jaw dropped.

Rachael undid his belt and then his button before Drest could think to react. By the time he had his mind on board with slowing things down, she already had his erection in her hands and was stroking him.

Growling, he lifted her, and her legs went around his waist fully. He kissed her lips and then her jaw on his way to her neck.

She turned her head and writhed against him, panting, her hands going to his hair.

His lips closed over her nipple a moment before she took hold of his hair and jerked.

“Drest,” she said fast, her breath catching.

He suckled on her breast more, loving the taste of her. He’d been right. She did taste like strawberries and blueberries.

“Drest,” she repeated, no longer moving, her hand still in his hair. She tugged on his head.

Coming out of his desire-induced daze, Drest freed her nipple and lifted his head.

She was looking off toward the entrance of the wine cellar.

Following her gaze, Drest found Nile standing there, fury rolling off the man in waves.

Nile bared his teeth and yanked at the top button of his shirt before undoing his cuffs. Did the guy really think he could stand against Drest in a fistfight? The idea was nearly laughable.

If the situation weren’t so dire and forbidden, Drest might have actually burst into a fit of laughter. Instead, he directed Rachael’s attention back to him and stole a quick, chaste kiss. “It will be okay.”

She didn’t look as if she believed him.

With a sigh, Drest eased Rachael to her feet and kept his body close to hers as he helped to right the front of her dress, covering her breast from view. He tucked himself back into his slacks and did them up, though he didn’t redo his belt just yet.

He tapped Rachael’s chin lightly and winked, wanting to make her feel at ease.

Pink stole across her cheeks and upper chest. Her worry hit him as if it were his own.

“Trust me,” he said.

ChapterTwelve

Drest

Rachael blinked up at Drest, her eyes growing moist. “It won’t be okay at all. You don’t understand how he is.”

“Oh, I know how he is,” said Drest. “I’ll deal with him. It will all be okay. I promise.”

“Rachael,” snapped Nile, his voice cutting through the moment. Rage continued to ooze from his every pore. “Go upstairs and washhimoff you this instant. I’ll not have any niece of mine stinking of Nightshade Clan. It’s bad enough that I’m subjected to the stench of Henry’s unfortunate life choices. I’ll not tolerate it from you too. You have so much potential, yet you insist on throwing it all away. I won’t stand for it. You’re done whoring around. I knew those friends of yours were bad influences. You won’t be returning to that school. You are done.”

Rachael gasped and tried to squeeze by Drest with her head hung low. “Uncle Nile, please.”

Drest caught her elbow, drawing her back and behind him as he faced Nile fully. Puffing out his chest, Drest took a second to calm himself before he did something drastic like tap into his power and set the asshole on fire. “Apologize to her this instant.”

Nile scoffed. “For throwing her legs open to the likes of you? I think not.” He then pointed at Rachael. “I spoke. You will obey me on this. I warned Henry what would happen if he continued to permit you to run around like a trollop. You’re out of control and it stops now. I’ll have you unenrolled from university by morning and you will be moving in here again. I’ll be damned if I raise another man’s child. Henry may not care if—”
