Eleven fifty-five. Five more minutes in hell. I can do this.

“Zeus!” An intoxicated man in his forties yelled from across the room. “I need help with this hunk of junk stereo.”

Zeus rolls his eyes before walking over to help, leaving only Odin and me alone. Ok. I still have one boyfriend/bodyguard. I look around the room for Midas, but he has disappeared again. Where could he have gone this time?

“Let’s go sit at the bar,” Odin whispers in my ear.

I nod my head. I would love to sit and get off my feet. Six-inch heels were a bad choice, but they matched my dress and made me feel so pretty.

We take a couple of seats at the end of the bar, far away from everyone else. Odin orders another beer for himself and a Coke for me. The man behind the bar doesn’t say anything, just nods his head before turning around and pulling our drinks out of a fridge. He places them in front of us before scurrying off to the other side of the bar.

I turn to look at the room again. “Is everyone here single or something?” I ask as more men grab girls and fondle them.

“No. Most are married. The clubhouse has lax rules when it comes to infidelity. It wasn’t always like this.”

I nod my head, grossed out that the majority are married and probably have kids, but are here sleeping with girls half their age. Minutes pass, and soon the countdown to the New Year starts around the room.

“Prospect!” Someone yells to the kid behind the bar.

“I heard you, Gerry. Your beer is coming. Don’t start crying on me.” He replies, and my blood turns to ice.

I know that voice. It haunts my dreams almost every night. That was the voice of my stalker. My hands start to shake, spilling my full can of Coke on my dress.

“Serena?”

“That’s him. That’s my stalker.” I say as I point to the man behind the bar.

“Three.”

“Two.”

“One.”

“Happy New Year!” The crowd yells just as a shot is fired.

Tick tock. Time gets closer to my end plans.

As much as I wanted to spend the night watching my girl, I had other things that needed attending to. Plans to finalize. Now that I know how she reacts to Z, I know nothing will stop my plans.

She beautifully followed my orders, until that fucker stopped her. Not that it matters in the long run. I have my plan, and it will work. There is no doubt about that.

The next part of my plan is my favorite. Tomorrow morning, she will wake up to a surprise that is sure to put a wedge between her and the Kings. I need to still find something to pry her away from Dante Lupo, but I am not worried. She will soon enough that I am the one for her. Not them.

Never them.

I look around at the cabin that I recently bought. It’s small, but it will do for now as a place to bring her. Two-bedroom, one bathroom. A small kitchen and living room combo. The best part of it is the basement. I have spent much time modifying it to my needs. It used to be a rec room, but no longer.

Now, it is a perfect place to keep my little one until she is ready to be mine fully. I removed everything down there. Stripping it down to cinderblock walls and concrete flooring. I added a few more modifications that hopefully I won’t have to use.

The door has also been upgraded. A rickety wooden door was replaced with a sturdy metal door with more locks than necessary. She wouldn’t be able to escape even if she wanted to. I also replaced the windows with shatter-proof glass, and the front door has been reinforced.

Now, all I need to do is bring in a few things to make it homey for her. I would let her decorate it to her liking, but that would require leaving here, and that isn’t going to happen. She and I will stay here for as long as we need to.

A giddiness fills me as the final stages of my plan will soon unfold.

Tick tock. I’m coming for you.
