If I didn’t know I had his complete loyalty, I would have been wary of the bastard.
He rapped his knuckles on the table. “How’s Braxton?”
“Still asleep,” I said, noticing another bike driving in.
He nodded and took his usual seat at the opposite end of the table from me.
Roman came in next, grunted at us, and walked straight to the small table housing the coffee pots and cups.
He poured himself a drink and walked over to me, taking a seat on my left.
“Fuck, this is too early,” he said, his voice gruff.
I laughed. “Sorry to take you out of your warm bed. You’ve gotten soft since you got the girl.”
And fuck if that wasn’t true. I remember a time when the fucker would come out with me and party the night away, only to come in to work early the next morning.
He took a sip of his coffee. “Do you know who’s behind those fuckers targeting Braxton?”
I shook my head.
Of course, there would be someone behind it all.
I didn’t think the ones who chased my boy down were the ones in charge, but the question was, who was?
The club was thriving.
We kicked out the older chapters around California when the King’s Men came and took over the territory.
No one was strong enough to take us on.
Or stupid enough.
And there hadn’t been any trouble.
I couldn’t think of a single fucker… or perhaps I could think of a hundred other fuckers who were enemies of the club, but none of them fit the motivation,
Why would they suddenly act now?
That was a fucking anomaly.
I didn’t fucking like anomalies.
My fists clenched on the table, and Roman looked at them before he patted my back. “We’ll find them.”
I nodded as more noise came through the doors, and the important players for the club arrived.
Blade and Axel walked in together.
The two were almost always together. They had joined my club around the same time.
Blade was the secretary for the club, and Axel was my road captain. He was also responsible for ensuring drug distribution made it across the state line, while Blade focused more on overseas operations.
They looked at me now, their faces serious. Blade walked over and placed a folder on the desk.
I nodded my thanks and grabbed it, looking through all the public records Blade had been able to dredge up on the girl.
I looked down at her full name.
