“To new traditions,” they repeat, and we all down the liquor.
“Alright, now go get changed into something jolly,” Knox instructs. “We’re going to Ploutos.”
“Come on,” I groan. “I thought you’d skip this year.”
“And stay in to drink cheap liquor and watch sappy Hallmark movies? No,” Knox says firmly.
“You’re the one who brought the cheap liquor,” I point out.
“It’stradition,” he says, throwing a hand over his chest, feigning offense.
“And it’s perfectly acceptable for a lazy Christmas Eve night in,” I counter. Not that I actually intend to be lazy. I have other very active plans.
“Stop being so bah humbug,” Knox groans, then narrows his eyes on Andi. “How have you domesticated him so fast?”
“Don’t look at me,” Andi says, throwing up her hands. “I’m always up for a night out.”
“See?” Knox says, throwing his arm around her. “Even Pop Tart’s down. You and I both know you have the perfect outfit, so stop being such a buzzkill.”
Andi snorts a laugh, and I glare at her. “What was that about?” I ask her, eyebrows raised.
“Seems the CBU boys aren’t the only ones who’ve deemed you Coach Buzzkill,” she says, fully amused.
“Oh, shut it,” I say, narrowing my eyes on her.
“Now go clean up. Party starts in an hour,” Knox instructs, nudging me and Andi towards the stairs.
“You still got your elf costume?” I ask her.
“Never leave the house without it,” she teases, and I throw my arm around her shoulders.
“We may need a few minutes,” I tell Knox as Andi smirks up at me. “Gotta shower and clean up this beautiful mess before we can get ready.”
“If you take too long, you’ll need to make room for a third,” Knox calls after us.
“Don’t make promises you won’t keep,” Andi teases.
Knox lets out a warm laugh. “Trust me, Pop Tart. I don’t.”

“Damn,” Knox says with a whistle as I come down the stairs. “If Santa’s elves looked like you, I don’t think Christmas could ever get done on time.”
“Don’t worry,” I tease. “I have effective methods of ensuring Santa’s productivity.”
He lets out a low chuckle. “That so?”
“Yep,” I reply, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.I’m gonna need to hydrate if I wanna keep up with these guys tonight.
“The princess not ready yet?” Knox asks.
“He’ll be down in a few,” I reply with a laugh. “So you and Porter met playing for Tampa?”
“Nope, freshman year of college.”
“My mom always told me you make lifelong friends in college,” I say. “I wasn’t sure if it was really true once you move and move on.”
