“Nope. Nothing you need to worry your pretty little head about,” she says in a sweet Southern accent before booping me on the nose with her pointer finger.

“Mm-hmm.” I hum down at her soft pink lips. All it would take is the slight dip of my head to touch mine against them.

“Hey, Elijah!” Desmond calls over with shit timing, per usual.

“Yeah?” I answer, attempting to hide my annoyance.

“Come throw with us. Noah wants to practice a few plays.”

“Give me a sec,” I tell him and turn my attention back to Sophia. “All work and no play…”

“Makes Elijah a dull boy.” She smiles lazily, and the sight alone has me considering ignoring the boys’ request and staying right here.

I grip her chin between my fingers. “I can assure you I’m anything but boring, Sunflower.” Walking away, I try to shake out the tingling feeling where my fingers touched her skin.

After at least an hour of playing catch with the boys, I’m finally able to sneak away. Sophia’s lying on her side, reading a book. I settle in the sand, resting my head on her hip, and look up at her.

Her amused eyes move from the open book down to me. “Can I help you?”

I give her my most dazzling smile. “Whatcha doin’?”

She wiggles her book at me. “Reading.”

“Whatcha reading?”

She bats her eyelashes, a coy smile playing on her lips. “Porn.”

“Oh, really?” My brows fly to my hairline as I reach up and pluck the book from her manicured fingertips.

“Elijah,” she squeals, trying to steal it back as I open to the page she was just on. Sighing in defeat, she falls back on her elbows, and I lay my head on her stomach. My eyes scan the page, and every drop of blood in my body rushes south.

I glide my tongue along her collarbone towards her neck. The soft skin is like silk against my hungry lips. My impatient palm drags slowly up her thigh towards her soaking wet pussy, and my dick throbs in anticipation.

I flick my gaze to hers, excruciatingly aware of how well this bathing suit isnothiding my raging hard-on. “You were telling the truth.”

“I’m an honest girl.”

“You know…” I rest my cheek against her soft skin. “I’m happy to offer my services if you’d like to recreate that chapter.”

She lets out a bubbling laugh. “Is that so?”

“Mm-hmm.” I hold out the book, and she snatches it from my hand, tossing it on the towel before returning her attention back to me.

“Did you just come over here to interrupt my reading, or do you need something?” She smirks, and I find myself distracted by the way her eyes sparkle in the sun.

“Just a poor, lonely honey bee checking on his sunflower.” I bat my eyelashes innocently.

“This sunflower is just fine, Elijah.” She flicks her golden hair over her shoulder.

“Have you always liked to read?”

She turns her attention to the water. “Yeah… My sister and I used to read together.”

“You read those types of books with yoursister?” I ask teasingly.

“No, I was definitely too young for the good stuff back then.”

I brush my finger lightly against her shoulder, and her eyes lock with mine. “What was your favorite book to read together?”
