Page 45 of Finding Happily Ever After
Nothing made sense and her brain couldn’t keep up with her thoughts.
Her mind raced, but at the same time, everything slowed.
“I’m sorry….” She couldn’t finish the thought. Why did she keep apologizing to this woman when she should be screaming at her? Demanding answers from this woman who said she was Aiden’swife?
Then again, what right did Natalie have to get mad ather?
Her stomach roiled and she thought she was going to be sick right there on the floor.
Aiden was married.
And she’d just slept with him.
Worse—she’d just given her virginity to a married man.
Oh God.
She let the phone slip from her hand to the floor. She only vaguely registered Brenna’s voice, still demanding to know who she was and why she was answering herhusband’sphone.
Oh God.
Somehow, Natalie found the strength to reach out and push the button that would disconnect the call. She had to get out of there. She needed to get as far away from Aiden and her terrible mistake as quickly as she possibly could.
But first, she just needed a minute.
Natalie squeezed her eyes shut and inhaled, forcing sensation back to her limbs. Just when she thought she had enough strength to stand, Aiden’s voice crashed through her, piercing her heart.
“Nat?”
She looked up to see Aiden, shirtless. His lips—the same lips she’d just been kissing—turned down into a worried frown. “Who was that on the phone?”
When Aiden finally woke, he instinctively rolled over to pull Natalie close to him. It had only been a few hours since he’d last had her in his arms and it was already too long. He had no idea how he was going to function when he had to spend an entire day away from her. She’d worked her way directly to the core of him in such a short time, it should scare the hell out of him. But it didn’t. Quite the opposite.
Natalie felt right.
Everything about her felt absolutely perfect. And then when they’d made love…damn.
Never before had sex been like that.
Not. Even. Close.
Everything was different with Natalie, in all the best ways. And he wanted it all.
Especially having her sexy, naked body pressed up against his right now.
Except that when he stretched out his arm, the only thing he felt was the bed sheet. Aiden lifted his head.
Her side of the bed was empty.
A flash of disappointment rushed through him. But she couldn’t have gone far. She was probably just hungry. After all, they had more than worked up an appetite the night before.
His dick sprung to life at the memory.
“Mmm.” He allowed himself a moment to relish in the afterglow of a night full of lovemaking, but the sound of Natalie’s voice in the other room caught his attention.
Who was she talking to?
Aiden reluctantly left his bed, found a pair of sweatpants in his closet, and tugged them on. He hoped he would be taking them off again very soon. Correction. He hopedNataliewould be taking them off again.
