She put her arms around his shoulders, her excitement spilling out of her. “I got the commission.”
“You got the commission!” Nathan shouted. “I knew you’d get the commission!”
Hal stuck his head into the office. “Congratulations on getting the commission, kid.”
Harper laughed. “Thank you, Hal.”
“See you tomorrow, Nathan.”
Hal left, and Harper made a muffledmmphwhen Nathan kissed her hard. She returned his kiss, her stomach doing lazy flip flops, and her heartbeat going into overdrive when Nathan leaned back and said, “I love you, Harper.”
“I love you too.”
“So, tell me everything,” he said.
“Stark wants four sketches for his office and two for his home,” Harper said. “Six in total! He told me what he wanted, and,” she made a soft squeak of excitement, “I told him the cost, and he didn’t even blink, Nathan! He’s gonna pay me five grand! Five grand!”
He whooped with happiness. “You deserve every penny of it.”
“I wasn’t going to charge that much, but two of them are pretty detailed landscape images, and I decided that I was done devaluing myself. I’m a good artist, you know?”
“You’re an amazing artist,” he said. “I’m so happy for you.”
“Thank you, honey. With the commission I make from Stark - he’s paying me half upfront - plus the money I made from the art I sold to your friend, Andrew, I’ll definitely be able to afford a pet friendly rental that’s not in South Falls.”
Nathan frowned. “A rental?”
“Yeah,” she said. “Oh, hey, after we have dinner with Dad and Savina tonight, do you mind if I take even an hour to pack up the rest of my room? Dad has a moving truck coming this weekend, and I need to get my stuff out of there and into storage by Friday. I’d do it tomorrow, but I have an early morning shift at the coffee shop, I’m meeting Kira for lunch, and then I have a couple of appointments to look at rentals tomorrow afternoon. I’m hoping to get a place by November first, but if I don’t, are you still okay with Winston staying at the house with you and the cats?”
“I’m good with all of that,” Nathan said before pressing a kiss against her collarbone. “Or you and Winston could just move in with the girls and me, and then we could go home after dinner tonight and have hot and sweaty sex instead of hot and sweaty packing.”
Harper leaned back, studying his face in surprise. “You want me to move in with you?”
“Yes.”
“We’ve been dating for two days,” she said.
“So?”
“People will talk. They’ll call us crazy,” she said.
“Better than my last nickname,” he said. “I’ll take crazy over Dr. Death any day. It’s better for business.”
She laughed. “Nathan, be serious.”
“I am being serious. Move in with me, Harper. You need a place to stay, and I need the woman I love with me.”
“Is that right?” she said with a soft smile.
“Yep. I’m weird that way.” Nathan kissed her collarbone again. “What do you say? Move in with me? I’ll eat your pussy whenever you ask me to.”
“You make it very hard to resist you, Dr. Henshaw.”
He grinned at her, wiggling his eyebrows. “Probably best if you don’t even try. Just move in with me.”
Harper stopped hesitating and gave in to what she wanted more than anything. “Okay, I’ll move in with you.”
Nathan let out another whoop and then kissed her until she was breathless. “You won’t regret this, Harper.”
She smoothed his hair back before running her fingers over his perfect, kissable lips. “I know I won’t.”
