As much as I hated the human who had foreverfractured my relationship with my best friend, I couldn’t deny that withouther, we would not have our sweet Bella. I bent and pressed a kiss against herforehead.

“You need to leave now to get to thedocking bay in time,” Bran said.

I put on my cloak and buttoned it as Brangrabbed his tablet. “She has long dark hair, blue eyes and has large breastsand hips. Do you need to see her picture?”

“No. She will be implanted with an ID chipif I cannot find her.”

Bran rolled his eyes. “Your unwillingnessto even look at the human I have hired is tiresome, Court. You must treat herwith respect when she is here. Do you understand?”

“I understand.” I kissed Bella’s foreheadagain before leaving.

Evelyn

I studied the last plastic bag tucked intothe side of the seat. I had already vomited twice into the other two plasticbags, and I was on the verge of throwing up again. The ride to the Draaxplanet was brutal, and the jolting and shaking of the ship was making everypart of my body scream in pain. My kidneys were jarred with every air pocketwe hit, and I was dangerously close to just screaming in pain. I held thescreams back with a grim determination.

Sabrina was holding the bottom of her seatand she shouted, “It’ll be okay.”

I nodded and closed my eyes. The ship wasgoing to crash, I knew it was. I didn’t want to see my approaching death, so Ikept my eyes shut as a deafening noise nearly shattered my eardrums. I put myhands over my ears as the seat belt dug painfully into my side. The shipdipped and then dropped with a terrifying speed that ripped a soft scream offear from my throat.

“Almost there, ladies!” the pilot shouted.

He was laughing. Why was he laughing?

I clutched my seat, my stomach rolling andchurning as the ship dropped again. We landed on the ground with a thud thatmade my body lurch up against the confines of my seat belt. My kidneys andback screamed at me, and I swallowed down the vomit rising up my throat beforeopening my eyes.

The ship slowed to a complete stop, but thehail hitting the metal ship made it impossible to hear anything. Sabrina smiledreassuringly as the outside doors opened. Cold air swirled in, plastering myhair against my face. I unclicked my seatbelt as two Draax males boarded theship.

One of them approached me and took myhands, helping me to my feet. I winced, and he gave me a curious look beforeleading me to Sabrina. Three more Draax had squeezed into the ship and myheartbeat went into overdrive. Which one of them would I be expected to sleepwith?

All of them were tall and muscular withbroad chests, narrow hips and black hair. I stared in fascination at the tailsthat were waving back and forth behind them. I moved closer to Sabrina andwithout speaking, we put our arms around each other.

An older male, his body a bit bent with ageand threads of gray in his hair, spoke into the ear of the Draax standing besidehim. The Draax shrugged and the older one removed a thin, silver box from theinside of his cloak and approached us.

He tugged us apart and I didn’t resist whenhe pushed up my sleeve and scanned my right arm. He read the information onthe screen before pushing a button and turning to Sabrina. He scanned her arm andread the information, then nodded and pointed to Sabrina. She was led towardthe door of the ship, and I felt a pang of loss even though I barely knew her.

“Wait!” Sabrina pulled free of the Draaxand turned around. She hugged me hard, and I flinched and gasped with pain. Ireturned her hug as she pressed her mouth against my ear.

“It was nice to meet you, Evelyn. Takecare of yourself, okay?”

“You too!” I shouted.

The Draax took her arm again and gentlytugged her to the door. I couldn’t hear her, but I could see Sabrina’s lipsmoving as she stared up at the Draax. I didn’t know why she bothered to talk tohim, it wasn’t like they could understand us.

I watched in surprise as the Draax picked upSabrina like she weighed nothing before walking out of the ship. The older Draax,as well as another, followed them out. I gave the two Draax standing in theship a tentative smile.

The one stepped closer, and I held mybreath when he bent and studied my face. He had thick, black, and slightlycurly hair that was on the longer side, and copper coloured eyes. I stared infascination at them as he frowned and scrutinized my own green eyes.

To my confusion, dislike was radiating fromhim in a strong vibe. I swallowed down my nervous laughter as he continued tostudy my face. There was a brief flicker of confusion in his eyes and hestraightened and turned to the second Draax. The second alien had moved to thedoorway of the ship, and he nodded before disappearing out into the storm.

I was already beginning to freeze in my t-shirtand jeans, and the shaking of my body was incredibly painful. I gave the Draaxanother timid smile as he studied my shivering body. He headed toward the doorand I glanced at the pilots before following him. He was wearing a drab browncloak and if he was the king, then the Draax certainly didn’t dress like theywere royalty.

Don’t be stupid, Evie. Do you reallythink the king would come to get you himself? He’s probably a servant or something.

Yeah, that made more sense. Hopefully he reallywasn’t the king. I had no idea why, but the big Draax definitely didn’t likeme. Panic trickled down my spine. What if he really was the king? He hatedme on sight. He would hurt me and make me cry and…

I took a deep breath, trying to quell my risingpanic. I was acting like an idiot, but, truthfully, I was in an incredibleamount of pain, and exhausted, and scared to death. I would most likely behaving sex with a big green alien tonight, and what did I do if he took onelook at my bruised-up body and sent me straight back to Earth because I wasdamaged goods?
