“You two are girls. You’re aware of that, right?” Shane says. “I obviously meant you two would be over all the time, duh,” he says with an eye roll, but a quick smirk at me.

I shake my head.

Tori huffs. “Yeah, you better mean Cat and me,” she says, bumping into Shane.

He immediately pulls her into his arms. “Never anyone else, babe,” he says and pinches her side, making her squeal.

We make it back inside then, where I gather mine and Cat’s things to stow in Shane’s Jeep. We wait for Zack, Vada, and Summer to arrive and collect Steve, then finally start our short journey to the beach.

I sit in the backseat, Cat by my side and cuddled up against me while some music plays quietly in the background and Tori flirts with Shane.

It’s exactly like it was last year, excepteverythinghas changed.
