“Oh?”

“Yes. You nude, reclining on that studio sofa in all your glory.”

Her cheeks went red, and he captured her lips again. He was going to marry this woman as soon as he could convince her of it.

Epilogue

Kaley pushed the hair away from her face. It had been six months since she and Anthony declared their love for each other. One of the first things he did was insist she move in with him. In a way, she was glad to get out of her small apartment, though it was a little bittersweet. She’d come into her own there. Made her choices and they’d worked. She had a solid business. And love. So much love.

Today Anthony wanted her to meet him downtown not far from Sweet & Savory, but he wouldn’t tell her why. When she pulled up to the address, she double-checked it. Yep, this was the address.

She got out of her dog grooming van and stared at the empty store front. Why did he want to meet her here?

“Hey, sweetheart.”

She turned to see Anthony walking toward her, a big smile on his face. “Why here?”

“You’ll see.” He took a set of keys out of his pocket, opened the door, and guided her inside.

She glanced around. This was a very nice place. But Anthony guided her past two swinging doors and into the back. Three huge tubs sat along one wall.

“I don’t get it.”

“This used to be a self-serve dog wash place.”

“Oh.” She’d never paid that close of attention. “When did it close?”

“About two years ago. I’ve talked with the building owner and had everything inspected.”

She frowned. “Why?”

“Because this is now going to become Fluff & Puff.”

She froze in place as her eyes widened. “What?”

“I saw the empty building two months ago and started making inquiries. It’s yours if you want it.”

“Anthony.” She couldn’t find the words. “I don’t know if I can afford the rent.” While she was doing well, this was a big step.

He slipped his arm around her waist. “It’s a present.”

She tilted her head up and looked at him. “No. It’s too much.”

“I know you don’t want me spending money on you, but it’s my money to spend. Before you say anything, it’s not going to hurt my bank account. I’ve been selling like hot cakes at the gallery, both here and at Dane’s other one in Chicago.”

“But it’s your money.”

“It’s our money.” He turned her to face him. “Since you came into my life, I’m happier; my muse is painting up a storm in my head, and I love you.”

She pulled out of his hold and ran her hand over the tub. “It’s going to take a lot to get this place functional.”

“Just say the word. Zeke and Gabriel said they would get a crew together. Allyson has already checked on permits, and you have intimate ties to an artist who can paint your windows with cute animal pictures.”

Kaley laughed and launched herself into his arm. “I love you so much.”

“Good.” He took a step back.

She frowned as he knelt down, then he held out a box. “Marry me?”

“Oh, hell yeah.”
