I imagined him wearing a pair of glasses on his nose and nothing else other than a frown at me for returning a book late... I bit my lip. The temperature in the room seemed to rise a handful of degrees.

His lips curled up. ‘I knew you’d like that one. I’ve been saving it for a special occasion and I think this qualifies, don’t you?’

‘It does,’ I agreed briskly, like I wasn’t a puddle of desire. ‘That sounds like an excellent plan.’ I cleared my throat awkwardly; I was the worst at sexy talk.

My husband-to-be was sexy as sin, and I was grateful to the Goddess that he was mine. Now that I’d found him, I was keeping him forever – and woe betide anyone who tried to tear us asunder. Our future lay before us and I had no doubt that at times it would be difficult, but with Bastion by my side, there was nothing we couldn’t accomplish. My heart was full and I was happy in a way I’d never been in my entire life. I had friends, family and a position I was proud of. I had already accomplished so much, and it was only just the beginning.

I was ready to face anything that was coming. Bring it on.
