I pulled out and thrust back in, going for slow and deep rather than hard and fast. I didn’t want to hurt her. The noise that was punched out of Kennedy as I slid all the way back inside her told me I’d made the right choice. Every inch of me sank into her and I groaned, vibrating with pleasure.

“Yes,” Kennedy whispered, her eyes nearly dilated with lust. “Yes, Marco, yes…”

I slid into her again and again, my hands now braced on either side of her head. I could hardly breathe with the fire roaring inside of me, the triumphant feeling ofmine, mine, mine. She was lettingmetie her up andtakeher.

Kennedy continued to beg me under her breath, so desperate to come, on the edge, and I snarled in pleasure. Yes, she was right there, it wasn’t going to take much to push her over the cliff…

I shifted my weight and brought my other hand down to rub at her clit and she melted, her body shaking, eyes fluttering as she came around me. It was so fucking hot, she was so tight, I couldn’t possibly hold myself back. I felt like I was hit with a goddamn freight train as I came, growling deep in my throat like an animal.

Kennedy and I panted together, our bodies slick with sweat. I felt like my entire body was filled with liquid fire, each breath too sharp, everything a haze. It looked like Kennedy’s orgasm went on and on, small noises falling from her lips as she shivered and clenched around me, so tight I felt like I couldn’t pull out.

We were definitely going to do this again, if this was the kind of reaction I got from her, the kind of climax she had while being restrained.

Finally, though, I was able to pull out and untie her. It looked like between the type of wrap I’d used for her ankles and the fuzzy handcuffs, she hadn’t suffered any bruising. I massaged her arms and legs just to be sure, though. Didn’t want her to be full of pins and needles.

Kennedy was practically boneless, staring up at me with pleasure-hazy eyes. “That… was… amazing,” she whispered, her words fuzzy around the edges.

“Good.” I kissed her. “You were fucking fantastic. Gorgeous.”

Tomorrow we had to move forward on this… semi-plan. We had to put Kennedy in danger by contacting her handler. But for now, tonight, there was just the pleasure, and the knowledge that my girl trusted me.

I was going to cling to that for all it was worth.

CHAPTER22

Kennedy

Toby set up a series of contraptions that would allow everyone to hear what was said on the phone call. I felt like we were on an episode of some crime procedural. I’d worked in the FBI and had done training with this kind of thing, briefly, but I’d never actually been a part of something like this in real life.

I mentioned as much to Marco, who nodded in an oddly quiet fashion, as if he already knew that I would say something like that.

I knew the gears were turning in his head. But I wasn’t sure what they were turningabout.

“We’re all set,” Toby said, and I picked up my burner phone to give Johnson a call.

I took a deep breath as the phone rang. It answered after four of them. “Hello?”

“Johnson, it’s me.”

“I figured. Why are you calling? Any big developments?”

I took another deep breath. “Marco suspects something. He… roughed me up a bit. I can send you some pictures, if you’d like. I think I was asking too many questions. It was going really well—I got invited to the wedding and everything but—I think I let my guard down a bit too much.”

There was a long pause at the other end of the line, and then Johnson said, “All right. Keep doing what you’re doing.”

My heart skipped a little in my chest. “…sir? You don’t want to pull me out?”

I looked over at Marco. His arms were folded and his expression was thunderous, but he didn’t look at all surprised.

“No,” Johnson replied. “You’re the only one we’ve gotten in this far. If we pull you out… Marco’s not going to fall for the same trick again and we’ll have to start from scratch with a new idea. The D.A.’s certain they’ve got a case, all you have to do is keep up your work.”

“What is my work, exactly?” I asked, impatient. “Because right now it feels like you’re setting me up to get caught.”

“You’ll find a way to allay his suspicions. You’re a clever girl.”

“And how will my staying with Marco help the D.A.’s case, sir? It sounds like they’ve got all the information they want without needing any more intel from me. I feel like I’m kind of a moot point, sir.” I paused, then added, “With all due respect.”

Which was none.
