“My God, you’re incredible, Gwen.”
She groaned as he flicked his tongue over her nipple again, her hips bucking against his hand. “Oh—” She pushed herself more firmly against his fingers.
“Do you want me under the nightgown?”
She hesitated for a moment. “I do, but I think it’s, I think I’m?—”
“Wet?” he supplied. Her blush told him he’d guessed right. “God I hope you are,” he growled, tugging up her gown and plunging his hand beneath.
He forced himself to slow down. To master himself and control his own lust. The last thing he wanted to do was frighten her. He took a breath and lightly rested his fingers against her hot flesh. Wet was not generous enough a word for what she was. He gently slid two fingers into her folds, caressing her sensitive nub between them.
She called out, her legs jerking with the pleasure. As he circled with his fingers, his tongue copied the movements inside her mouth. He longed to feel his fingers inside of her, to have the walls of her body surrounding him, but he didn’t want to do anything that might remind her of her past. Instead, he focused every fiber of his being on her and stoking her growing pleasure.
Slow and steady, he continued with his rhythm, stroking her as her body quivered, her moans growing louder and more urgent with each caress.
“That’s it,” he encouraged.
Her eyes grew wide as she neared her climax. “Ash, I don’t know.”
“It’s alright, Gwen. I’ve got you. Just let go and enjoy.”
And at those words, she took her pleasure. “Ash!” she called out, throwing her head back. He groaned his own pleasure at the sound of his name being shouted from her lips in ecstasy. She writhed in his arms, as glorious as a goddess. Her breasts heaved as she cried out with each wave of pleasure as it crashed through her.
As she calmed, he pulled her nightgown back down and gathered her against his chest. That was the most incredible thing he’d ever experienced. How was that even possible when he was still as hard as a steel rod with no relief in sight? Her panting breaths whispered across his neck as he rubbed a hand over her shoulder. He pressed a kiss against the top of her head.
“I don’t really think it’s sufficient,” Gwen said quietly against his neck, “but, thank you.”
Ash squeezed her in a tight embrace. “I assure you, it was my pleasure.”
He waited for the guilt and self-loathing to come, but they didn’t. Somehow it just felt right with Gwen. She wasn’t giving herself to him out of fear or to gain his favor. But was that really true? Or was he just trying to justify what he’d done with her?
“Please don’t send me away tonight.”
How could he possibly refuse such a sweet request? Besides, holding her in his arms was the only thing that had kept his nightmares at bay, and even though he really shouldn’t, he would gladly allow her to do that again.
“I wouldn’t dream of it, my angel.”
ChapterNine
When Gwen woke the following morning, he was still there beside her. His warmth and his spicy scent wrapped around her like a comforting embrace. She shamelessly threw an arm and a leg over him and snuggled herself against him.
“Mmmm. Don’t make me wake up,” she mumbled. “I’m enjoying this.”
His chest shook with a soft chuckle, but he just rubbed her shoulder. Eventually, she opened her eyes and smiled up at him.
“You’re still here.”
“And I’m glad I am. Otherwise, I would have missed that lovely smile.” He rewarded her with an affectionate smile of his own. Her heart stumbled a bit, warnings flashing in her brain. She knew she was setting herself up for heartbreak with Ash, but these moments would make it all worth it. Or at least, that’s what she told herself. She’d have these times to look back on forever, once he was gone. And he would be gone, at least emotionally. Once they returned to Raven House, he would put his walls back up and separate himself from her. He’d have to. But for now, she had him here, in her arms, and in her heart.
“We need to talk, and if we do it here in my bed, no one would dare to interrupt us.”
“Well, that sounds ominous. Should I be worried?”
He gave her a gentle squeeze. “Nothing to worry about. I just want to tell you some things before you hear them from someone else.”
She nodded, trepidation settling in her stomach, despite his assurances.
“Warwick is going to be arrested today.”
