…and suddenly she was dissolving into molten gold, ripples of ecstasy undulating from her core, making her whole body shake in a glorious chain reaction.

Blake grasped her hips as she tightened and spasmed around him. The muscles of his stomach began to clench. His rhythm became less deliberate, more urgent. His release, when it came, was so joyously intense he almost thought he saw stars.

He collapsed onto the furs and wrapped himself around Dani, pulling her into his chest until their breathing returned to normal.

“I love you, Blue.”

He waited for what seemed an eternity.

“I love you too, Ethan.”

They slept in each other’s arms, cocooned by the furs and warmed by the fire.

And unnoticed by either of them, a handful of tiny lights danced among the rafters. Lights that had emanated from Dani at the height of her passion.

Pale and fragile, they were almost imperceptible. Magic at its most nascent. But magic nonetheless.

They swirled into the hearth where they were sucked up the chimney and out into the night sky.

There they dispersed, leaving nothing behind but a promise.

The promise of a new beginning.
