There were ten seconds of shocked silence before she replied, “Yes! Yes, of course I’ll marry you.”

I slipped the ring onto the fourth finger of her left hand. She was still looking at it, twisting her hand and watching as the diamond caught the light, when I reached down through the water and grabbed her ass to pull her as close as I could possibly get her.

This time when I kissed her, I didn’t stop.

Water sloshed over the side, and the candles extinguished.

The rest of the night was spent with only stars guiding our way.

It was all we needed.
