She let out an amused breath. “I can’t believe we just did that.”
“Well, I’d very much like to do it again if that’s okay?”
“That’s perfectly fine by me.” She bit down on her bottom lip and tipped her chin up, waiting for me to kiss her.
I dropped my lips against hers, and we kissed for what felt like hours. When she pulled away, she rested her head against my chest, and I leaned my chin on the top of her head while we gently swayed to the music. This was the closest we would get to a moment of silence to decompress. We needed to talk aboutthings, but we wouldn’t do that here, not with everyone around us.
I wasn’t sure how long we were dancing, but by the time Jackson interrupted us to tell us about the after party, we were the only ones left on the dance floor. Not that I cared. Having Britt in my arms was too good to take for granted. She reluctantly stepped out of my hold and patted down the creases on her dress. Like she needed to do anything. She looked fucking perfect.
“Would you like to go to the after party together?”
Say yes. Say yes.
In all honesty, I didn’t want this night to end. It was only the start of our summer break, and I didn’t know what Britt’s plans were for the rest of it, but I wanted to be with her every single day.
“Uhhh…” She dropped her gaze to the floor.
“Or maybe you could come to my hotel room, and we could talk?”
And I did really mean talk. As much as I’d dreamed about Britt naked, I wanted this to be more than a one-night thing.
“As fun as that sounds, I think we should go to the after party. Devin and Reign only get married once, after all.”
She tipped on her toes and kissed me quickly before squeezing my hands. I couldn’t deny that I felt the slightest bit of rejection, but I wouldn’t let that deter me. There was no need to rush anything with her. Now that I had her, I wouldn’t let her go.
“And then maybe after I can come to your room?” she said with a coy smile that matched mine.
“Sounds like the perfect plan.”
This was the start of an awesome night.
Chapter 3
Thwack!
My shoulders collided with the hotel wall, and the delicious sting shot down my spine, then stopped at my core. I groaned into his lips, clutching at the lapels of his jacket to draw him closer.
Mint, beer, and longing.
That was what Matty tasted like. Giggling, I dropped my head against the wall.
His lips moved to my neck in an instant. “Do you know how hard it was to hold back from touching you?” he asked as his hands roamed my body with zero hesitation.
“What do you mean? We were only in the elevator for a minute.”
He nipped the skin at my collarbone, licking it better. “Yeah, with a bunch of gambling grandmothers. It’s not like I could touch you in there.”
“Well, it’s just us in this hallway now,” I whispered as his body smothered mine, claiming me in ways I’d only imagined before.Matty was lean but hard in all the right places, and somehow, our bodies molded together perfectly.
“Good point,” he said against my lips before sliding my hands up the wall over my head, then clutched them in one hand. It was the perfect kind of capture. Matty’s body against mine, his lips searing every point they touched. Who could ask for more?
With my eyes closed, I arched my back, begging for attention and letting the feeling of his body warm my soul. He swallowed my cries with a searing kiss. One so hot it made me dizzy. Or was that from all the alcohol we’d had? His hand drifted down my hips, then back up until he reached the bottom of my breasts, as if he was trying to memorize every single part of my body.
How the hell did we even get here? I could barely remember the taxi ride. We’d finally done it. We’d taken our friendship to the next level, an even higher level than I’d ever expected, and I couldn’t get enough.
When he broke our kiss, I asked, “Where did all our friends go?” Our breaths were hot and heavy as he skated his nose across mine and stared at me through hazy eyes.
“I think you know we lost them somewhere between the after party and the cab ride home.” When he kissed me again, I might have fallen to the ground if he hadn’t been holding me up.
