“Deeper,” Layla orders breathlessly. “I need you deeper, Teagan.”

My hips punch forward in compliance, earning me her screams of approval. I need more. Sliding my arms beneath her, I scoop her up into a sitting position, legs bracketing my thighs. Her arms wrap around my neck while I latch onto her full hips with a bruising grip. This angle keeps her fully seated to the hilt, making every thrust that much deeper.

“Fucking come for me, Layla,” I grit out between clenched teeth. I’m so close that it’s painful.

“Come with me, Papí.”

She doesn’t have to tell me twice. Pressing the pad of my thumb to her clit, I move it just the way I know she likes.

“Yes!” Layla screams, tossing her head back as her inner walls clamp around my cock, her orgasm barreling through her.

“Fuck, yes.” Growling, I thrust one more time and spill into her.

My body falls back onto the bed and Layla collapses on my chest. We’re covered in sweat and panting harshly. Layla traces idle designs on my pec, while I lazily run my fingers through her silken hair.

“I love you,” she whispers.

It’s not the first time she’s said those words, and it won’t be the last, but it still gives me a thrill. The sincerity behind them makes my heart swell even more. I tilt her chin up so I can look into her eyes.

“I loveyou, Layla,” I tell her earnestly. “So much that those words don’t feel like enough most of the time. That probably doesn’t even make sense.”

“No,” she says quickly, cupping my jaw. “It makes perfect sense because I feel the same way. You’re everything I didn’t know I wanted or needed. Or even thought I could have, if I’m being honest.”

My eyebrows pull down in confusion. “What do you mean, love?”

Pulling herself up slightly, she folds her arms over my chest and rests her chin on them. “Before you, when I envisioned my future? I saw myself with someone my parents picked out, married much younger than I wanted to be. I’d have a bunch of babies, all while working a job I didn’t love. Never, in a million years, did I ever imagine I’d find someone on my own. I never dreamed of finding someone who not only respects my dreams, but encourages me to go after them. Someone who will stand up for me, making it known that I’m my own person; I don’t have to repeat history just to leave a legacy. Teagan, I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we’ll spend the rest of our lives together. But I love that there’s no pressure to get married and start a family.”

A lump forms in my throat. It’s nothing I haven’t come to realize myself, but hearing the words come from her mouth is a beautiful sound. Brushing her hair behind an ear, I respond with a whispered, “Aye.”

Her eyes soften. “I know that you want that someday, though.”

“Layla,” I breathe. “My lovely Layla. I’ll be honest. I would marry you right this very second and give you a million babies…ifthat’s what you wanted. Yeah, I want that someday, but only with you, if and when you’re ready. If that day never comes, then so be it. I’m not going anywhere. If I can’t do life with you, I sure as fuck don’t want to do it with anyone else. If we never get married, and only have a dog, I’d still be the happiest bloke on the planet.”

She giggles. “God, you say stuff like that and it makes me want to forgeteverything I just said. Just marry you and have your babies right this second.”

A grin spreads slowly across my face. “And hearing you say that makes me want to practice putting babies in you right this second.”

Layla’s squeals turn to soft groans when I suddenly roll us over, taking her mouth with mine, and sliding my cock inside her again to show her how dedicated I am to practicing.

Chapter Thirty-Six

Three Months Later

Layla

I thought Teagan meeting my family was nerve-wracking. It doesn’t hold a candle to me meeting his. Every time I think about it, I break out into a cold sweat.

In just a few short weeks, we’ll be flying over the Atlantic Ocean to not only meet his family, but to celebrate Norah and Eamon’s wedding. It’s been a whirlwind of activity since they set the date. Luckily, I had enough money saved to buy my plane ticket, much to Teagan’s dismay. He was more than a little irritated when I told him he wasn’t allowed to pay for my airfare. He didn’t have a good enough argument, so I won that battle only to lose when it came to rental cars and lodging. Behind my back, he booked everything else, even going as far as pre-paying for my portion of the spa day I hadplanned with Norah and the other girls.

Teagan began working for NCICU as their Director of Communications about a month after graduation. He had applied for the position on a whim, not believing that he’d have a shot at it with little experience under his belt. Apparently they took a look at his transcript, resume, and work history, liking what they saw enough to offer him the position. He accepted, on the condition that he’d still be able to work a couple of days at the Children’s Department as well. His superiors didn’t have an issue with that at all, so Tuesdays and Thursdays are spent with the kids. Which is where we are now.

It’s the first time I’ve ever accompanied him, and it feels like I’m intruding on a sacred place. We arrive before the kids, so I climb to the top of the bleachers in the rec room, ensuring I’ll be out of the way. Teagan goes about setting up for today’s class, placing small, orange cones in patterns across the court. Do I spend more time admiring the way his tight t-shirt and athletic shorts move with his body than where he’s putting cones? Absolutely.

The fall soccer season has started back up and he’s doing a refresher course to see who might be a good candidate for a local team. Teagan claims he doesn’t have favorites, but the same names keep coming up every time we talk about it. If I’m being honest, I’m really excited to meet the kids he’s spent so much time with. Especially Gabriela.

“Whatcha starin’ at, love?” Teagan’s voice floats to where I’m sitting, breaking me from my thoughts.

Not ashamed to be caught, I shrug and say, “You, obviously.”
