“What’s wrong with beer?”

Brick and Betsey ignored the calls as the Dragon Runners MC moved around to celebrate. Betsey curled into the arms of the man she had chosen years ago, and Brick folded himself around her as he had the night he asked her to wait for him.

“Love you, Betsey.”

“Love you too, Brick.”

Brick gave a sigh of satisfaction that his work was done and life was good. It would only get better.

Miles away,the old Dragon Runner stepped out of his cabin and looked up at the dark sky. Up away from any city lights, the stars shone brightly against the midnight blue. Tonight, they seemed clearer and more vivid than he could remember in a long time. Beautiful. One of his cats weaved around his ankles, and he reached down to pet it. All was right.
