“Anymore.”
“You should be in there,” he said.
Rocco looked toward his friend and glared. Rose had kicked him out because he’d been too busy bossing around the wolf doctors as she gave birth.
They were at the Poison Wolves MC clubhouse, in his old bedroom. Rose had gotten tired of cleaning up the messes in her cabin and had insisted on giving birth close to the pack.
It would seem his woman, his mate, in pregnancy, craved the love and support of the pack, not that he had any problem with that. He loved the pack. But he also knew his wife, and he couldn’t help but wonder what she would be like after the baby was born. He didn’t know if she was going to reject them.
A sudden scream filled the air.
In the last nine months, a lot of stuff had happened. Several more infected humans had come to the pack. They had only been able to save three of them by using their blood to guide them through the transition.
Elizabeth Cole had been able to isolate why there were some humans who didn’t take to the blood, and others did. Milton had used bear blood as well as saliva. That, combinedwith wolf, made for a deadly concoction. There was no known cure for a bear bite. It was lethal to wolves, and mixing the two together wasn’t a successful concoction.
Graham had good and bad months. The good months, he was able to run with the pack, but his body would change. He had strength and speed, but there were limits to it.
Rocco also knew his friend had a voice in his mind, as if there was a wolf guiding him. He and Rose did the best they could. Rocco had come to love Graham like a friend. He was probably closer to him than he was to most of the Poison Wolves MC.
Rocco pulled out of his thoughts as he heard that sweet and special sound—the sound of a baby’s first scream—and he felt the tears fill his eyes, as she looked toward his best friend.
“Your baby is here.”
He’d kept his promise to Rose, but now, nothing was keeping him away. He stepped into the room to see Amelia placing his child in Rose’s arms. His mate looked up at him, a smile on her lips.
“We have a daughter,” Rose said.
Rocco walked toward his mate and pressed a kiss to her sweaty brow. “I love you,” he said.
“I love you too. Look what we made,” she said.
He stared down at the sweet head, and looked into the blue eyes of his daughter. There was a hint of amber within those depths, that came from him.
“She’s beautiful,” Rocco said.
“And she’s our little girl.”
“Do I get to come and see?” Graham asked, stepping into the room.
Rocco was already gesturing for him to come over.
Rose smiled at the two of them.
He had his best friend, his mate, and his daughter. Roccoknew these moments were precious, that nothing in life was guaranteed, and he was going to hold onto each of them, for as long as he was able.
The End
