“Putting me back inside you where I belong.”
“Uh, okay.” What else am I supposed to say?
“We need to get showered and ready to go. Kieran will want us there early. There’s going to be some press interviews before the first event starts and then we need to warm the guys up before their fights. I’ll need to go in the locker rooms to help tap up our guys and go over the game plan and get them warmed up. You’ll need to stay up here until Declan tells you it’s time to go down to the arena. Do not go anywhere by yourself. I mean it, Sky. You always have a brother with you. I won’t be able to concentrate on my job if I don’t think you’re safe.”
Ethan has been dreading taking me to this fight since he found out about it last week. It’s been two weeks with no sign of Spider or any other Devil’s Order members. It’s like he vanished. Gabe thinks he’s lying in wait for the right opportunity to make his play. And Ethan tends to agree. Thus, his overprotective streak is proving him a little more crazy than normal.
They were so concerned we drove down to the hotel in blacked out SUV’s. Only the Mountain Heights guys are riding in on their bikes.
Rubbing my hand along the stubble on his face, I promise him, “I won’t go anywhere alone. Eli and the boys will all be there tonight too. You’ll have extra people to watch over me. I’ll be fine.”
Ethan snags my hand in his, kissing each finger one at a time.
“I can’t lose you, Sky. You’re my past, my present, and soon I’m going to make you my future wife. We have so much to make up for, but I’m even more excited for what lies ahead.”
“Me too. And in case you were wondering, your declaration is not a proper proposal. You will not grunt me into marrying you, Ethan Anderson.” His laughter is loud and the deep, hearty sound warms me inside.
“Noted.” He sits up, pulling me up with him. “Come on. You got a package from Matteo. It’s on the table. He saidthe bosswants you to wear it tonight for the fight. I didn’t know how the fucker knew we were staying here.”
“Vincenzo owns the Oasis, Ethan. He’s a silent partner or something like that. Of course, he would know about the fight and your reservations.”
Springing up off the bed, I run excitedly to the table and find the large white box with a bow and card and my name on it.
Skyler,
I wanted you to have something beautiful to wear for the event tonight.
I hope you like it and enjoy your evening.
You will be safe.
You have my word.
Vincenzo
After removing the lid, I push aside the red and black tissue paper and find a plum-colored dress. It’s an off the shoulder, embroidered bodice, with scattering sequins and sheer off the shoulder straps. It comes in tight at the waist and a chiffon skirt that’s short in the front, and longer in the back. A pair of silver stilettos and a matching clutch are also in the box.
“Holy shit! This is beautiful.”
Ethan growls behind me, wrapping his arms around my middle and leaning his chin on my shoulder.
“You don’t like it?” I turn my head to see his reaction.
“I love it. I wish another man wasn’t sending you gifts,” he grumbles.
“Stop it. Vincenzo isn’t ‘another man’ he is Daddy’s friend and he wanted to do something nice for me. He’s like having another older uncle. One who likes money and finer things instead of axel grease and stripper poles.”
Ethan cocks a brow at me, and I turn slapping at his shoulder.
“Vincenzo’s club is nothing like Glitz and Tass and you know it!” We’re both laughing now as Ethan nuzzles my neck, his shoulders shaking.
“I do know it, and I’m not ashamed to say I’m happy you’re no longer working there.
His hand comes down hard slapping the side of my ass.
“Come on. Let’s get cleaned up then and you can wear your bougie uncle’s fancy clothes.” It’s my turn to laugh.
“Did you just saybougie?”Ethan shrugs but I can’t stop laughing. “Who are you and what have you done with my rugged, manly biker boyfriend?”
