“Bad word, Franco.”
We all smiled at Olivia.
Franco nodded. “Sorry, Livy.”
“We’ll head after this witness tomorrow, then,” Liam said. “I can be a fresh set of eyes on what you’re looking at.”
To my surprise, Franco didn’t protest. He really was at the end of his rope if he wouldn’t automatically insist on being able to handle it himself.
“But tonight, we’re all here together,” Franco said. “Let’s eat.” He picked up his wine glass. “Drink.” He did, taking a long swallow. “And be merry while we can be.”
“Hey, we’re all here.” Liam winked at me. “We should just elope or something.”
I mocked a gasp, feigning shock. “What? Elope? I’ll need a grand production of a wedding. The celebration of the century, fit for a princess.” I fluffed my hair back over my shoulder and posed with a dramatic, snooty face. I got what I was going for—Olivia’s laugh at my goofiness.
He grabbed the back of my neck and pulled me close for a kiss. “So long as you’remyprincess, I’ll give you whatever you want.”
I arched a brow, smiling wide. “Anything?”
“Everything you want,” he promised.
“Even a brother or sister for Olivia?” I bit my lip to keep from giggling. It was too much fun teasing this man. But this was no joke. I meant it, and I knew he was on the same page as me.
“Of course,” he replied, kissing me once more. “We’llpracticetonight.”
I can’t wait. For tonight, and every night for the rest of our lives.
We’d always be surrounded by danger, but I knew that my man, my future, would always do his best to come back to us.
