Nodding and satisfied, I slapped his face. “Good boy. And go clean yourself up before that pretty wife of yours gets home.”

All the man could do was stand there and nod frantically, still naked as the day he was born. Secretly, I hoped his wife would find out about all this shit but it wouldn’t come from me. I’d come and gotten what I needed. Feeling satisfied with the way things had gone down, I re-secured my gun.

Bo and Butch were already striding out of the room before I turned and hollered to Crystal. “Don’t be late for your fucking shift either!”

The very next day, I could hardly keep myself contained when the District Attorney had reached out to me to let me know the charges had been dropped.

I’d been in a good mood from that point on and had texted Emmy several times but hadn’t gotten a response. Casually, I laid in my bed with my laptop beside me running the numbers for the Sinners MC accounts.

Loki had asked me to make a deposit at the bank for them on Monday and I wanted to make sure numbers were looking good. As the treasure for Sinners, I took my counting very seriously. The last treasure had been sloppy as hell.

When I was finished going over my spreadsheets, I stared at my phone, getting annoyed she hadn’t said a peep back to me.

I’d never been much for social media but lately, I’d been using it more and more.

Emerald Landry didn’t post much either.

Signing on to Facebook, I immediately went to her page. There were a few new posts including a picture of a glass of wine. The caption had read, much needed, and that appeared to be in her kitchen. There were a few posts about being a girl boss, but that was it.

Now her family.

That was a different story.

Her two sisters posted like crazy.

Diamond and Summer Landry were gorgeous like their middle sister but I didn’t remember them from school. Each of them seemed to have at least three kids a piece and were married but Emerald was the odd one out.

“She doesn’t have a man…yet,” I smirked.

Scrolling on Diamond’s page, I saw that she had posted them setting up for a party in Emmy’s honor but something told me they did this all the time anyway.

Make sure yall come out to Emmy’s Welcome Home Party, starts at six on the dot, a status read along with a graphic giving directions.

Closing the laptop a pang of excitement went through me. I’d already begun to hatch a plan.

Noting the time, I saw I knew I didn’t have long.

I started the shower up and checked my reflection, letting steam begin to fill the room. Catching my reflection, I inspected my bottom lip noting that a small purple hue had set itself on the left corner. Kirk had nailed me good and when I pressed, I winced at how tender it felt.

Stepping into the shower I let the water cascade over me, and I soaped up my body. All my thoughts turned to Emerald. I wondered what kind of flowers she liked, and I wondered about her family.

She wasn’t going to be so happy about me showing up at her family event, but I’d taken care of one problem already by getting Kirk’s ass to drop the charges.

Next would be winning her over.

After I showered, I dressed in a pair of dark jeans and a dark t-shirt before snatching up my cellphone. There still wasn’t a reply from Emerald but there was a group chat message about the Korean situation.

Bo was out doing a little re-con at one of the local casinos.

Still no sign of Britney Lee, but I’m up twenty dollars on this fish table, the text read.

Keep your head on a swivel bro,Butch wrote back.

Loki and the others chimed in as well. We were determined to get that preacher’s kid back but we were still coming up empty with where she might be holding him while praying she didn’t just straight up kill him.

Heading down to the garage, I fired up the engine on my bike. Wind hit my face the second I was out in the open and I sped down the street. I stopped by a small flower shop for a few moments before I picked out some pretty pink roses.

I’d never bought a girl flowers before and my hands were sweating all the way there.
