“How do we know what we’ll need?” She stopped at a display of bottles.

Duncan came up beside her and noticed her chewing on her bottom lip. “What’s wrong?”

“I wanted to breastfeed.” She glanced up at him then back at the bottles.

“I know you do.”

“But is that even realistic in our situation?”

“Of course it is.”

“How? When the baby will be with you in Denver sometimes.”

He wanted nothing more than to take away her sadness.

“Don’t worry. For however long you want to feed the baby, I’ll come to you or you can come to Denver too. I know you’ll have to be close to the baby to make that work, and I know you want the baby to have the best start in life.”

“I do.”

“So, we’ll figure it out. We can postpone any kind of visitation schedule until the baby is a little older and off the boob.”

Jamie laughed. “Off the boob?”

He shrugged.

That seemed to lighten the mood, and Jamie picked up a bottle. “I guess the baby will need a bottle for times when I can’t be there. I’ll have to pump and you can feed … him or her.”

He scowled. “I hate that you know what we’re having.”

“Hey, you could know too.”

“No!”

She laughed again. “Fine. This one?” She held up the bottle.

“Sure.”

They continued through the store, scanning baby supplies, a car seat, a stroller, a high chair, and only neutral colored clothing so Jamie wouldn’t give away the sex of the baby.

Just as they were about to finish, Duncan froze and darted across the aisle.

“This!” he declared as he grabbed hold of a onesie and held it up. “We have to get this.”

Jamie let out a laugh at the Star Wars onesie with Yoda on the front that read “Too Cute I Am.”

“No, this one!” He grabbed the one beside it. “Jedi In Training.”

“I love them!”

“You like Star Wars?” he asked.

“Who doesn’t?” She pointed the scanner at the onesie in his hand, but he blocked the barcode.

“You don’t want them on the registry?”

“No, I’m buying them now. My first purchase for our kid.”

A smile lit up her face, and he tried to ignore the sudden flutter in his stomach.
