His face sobered, his gaze intense as I dropped to my knees, reaching out to cup his hand.

"You have to love me forever. Though all the seasons of life. When I'm flustered in a ballroom or getting stuck in prison dresses. When we're happy in bed, or struggling with exhaustion. You have to, Ash. Every single day."

"I swear." His voice was guttural, his expression fierce. "Every single day."

"Then yes, I'll marry you."

He twisted our hands, moving so he was holding mine, sliding the ring on my finger.

"Oh," I whispered, staring at the giant rock. "It's too much."

Even Millionaire Millie was impressed.

"It's perfect for you." He leaned in, pressing a kiss to my finger. "I love you, Millie."

I melted, sighing as he wrapped me in his arms. "And I love you, Ash."

"Forever?"

"And ever, and ever," I promised, and sealed it with a kiss.

"Is your dog having a spa day?"

Dylan glanced over their shoulder, flicking me a grin. "Yes."

The dog in question was one of those creepy-looking hairless things that in some weird way was also cute.

Smothered in cream, Dylan appeared to be painting the pup's nails a bright pink.

"I'd ask for more information but—to be honest—I really don't want to know."

Dyl lifted one shoulder in a half-shrug. "All you need to know is that Ms. Pepper loves her pamper time."

Ms. Pepper was Dylan's newest rescue.

I held up my hands in surrender. "Again, don't want to know."

I moved to walk into my office but was stopped by Dylan.

"Boss, I'd check out the conference room if I were you." They lifted one hand, pointing down the hall with the tip of their nail polish brush. "You have a meeting."

I raised an eyebrow. "I do?"

"Mmhmm." They continued to paint Ms. Pepper's nails as the dog lay snoozing on a heated towel.

I blew out a breath. "You know, Dyl. One day I might feel as if we're a professional operation."

"Today," they said, gently applying the polish. "Is not that day."

I laughed, twisting on my heel. "Get back to work."

"I am working!"

I walked down the hall, wracking my brains to remember which meeting I was about to walk into.
