I wasn’t expecting him to be home so soon. He said he was going to investigate Maksim’s business, but he’s back and he smells like gasoline. What the hell is going on?
My entire body is shaking in the darkness as I watch the large shape of Zane’s muscular body move across the only source of light coming from the open door. He casts a long shadow down the carpeted floor, one that crawls up my legs and puts a chill down my spine.
I let out a nervous laugh. “Zane, I didn’t realize you were already home. I seem to have gotten lost.”
There’s a long silence, and he doesn’t move at all. “You’re not lost, darling,” he finally says, his voice deep and throaty. “You’re exactly where you belong.”
A red light comes on in the room, and suddenly, everything becomes crystal clear. This isn’t an office, or even a torture room. It’s a sex dungeon, and I’ve walked right up to a polished wooden bondage table.

My mouth goes dry as the room illuminates, and Zane slowly walks toward me. He looks like a beast, and I feel like his prey, ready to be eaten up by his powerful jaws.
"Why were you exploring my house?" he asks, his eyes dark and his voice low. "What were you looking for?"
I try to smile, but I can't. "I was just curious," I say, but it sounds more like a whisper. "I didn't mean any harm."
He chuckles. "You'd have to be very curious to break into my special room, but then again, I've been here polishing things up, preparing them for you. I knew you'd eventually want to turn up the heat."
"Oh," I breathe, unsure of what else to say.
He comes up to me, grabbing my hips and pushing me back onto the bondage table. I gasp, my ass hitting the wooden surface.
"This is where the real fun begins," he says, his lips inches from mine. "I was wondering how long it would take for you to get up the courage to explore my house."
"You wanted me to come in here?" I ask.
"Of course," he replies, licking his lips. "I've been dreaming about having you tied up and helpless since the first day I met you. Normal sex is all fine and good, but the real fun begins when you let go and start trusting me."
This is the ultimate test for me, I realize. If I can trust him when I'm all tied up, then I can trust him enough to reveal what's on the flash drive. But I'm not sure I'm ready. It's a lot in a very short amount of time.
"What's wrong?" he asks, his eyes searching mine. "You look scared."
"I am scared," I whisper. "I'm scared that if I give you everything, you'll lose interest and toss me aside."
He chuckles. "Monroe, I'm not going to throw you away. I want to keep you, and you should know by now that I always get what I want. That includes you."
I shake my head. "I don't understand you, Zane. One minute you're a cold and ruthless Bratva boss, and the next minute, you're obsessed with me. I want to know the real you. I want to know who you actually are."
He stares into my eyes for a moment, and I can see the gears turning in his head. There's a lot he wants to say, and I think there's a part of him that wants to open up, but he doesn't. "I've already told you enough about my life," he mutters. "I can say more with my body than words could ever hope to express. If you want to know the real me, you're going to find out on that table behind you."
My heart is pounding so hard I can hear it in my ears, and I feel sweat beading on my forehead. This is a big decision, and I can't be sure of anything, but I know that the one thing that will bring us closer is allowing him to have his way with me on this table.
"Okay," I say, letting out a slow breath. "I trust you."
He grins. "Good girl."
He leans forward and presses his lips to mine, his tongue slipping into my mouth. The smell of gasoline is stronger now, and I know he's been doing something he shouldn't have.
"You've got gasoline all over you," I mutter as we break the kiss.
"Yes," he replies, kissing me again. "So what?"
"Did you do something?" I ask, my heart sinking.
He kisses my neck, and I melt, losing myself in the feeling. My fears are washed away by his touch, and I can't think straight anymore.
