“Good morning!”
“Bon giorno! What’s new?”
“I spoke to Andre and cousin Viny. They have made it safe and sound. I have given them strict orders to stay out of trouble. I am guessing they will sit around and play video games all day.”
“See what I’m talking about? This generation is doing something to the guys. No toughness. Sometimes I wish I had sent my son to the military instead of Harvard. That would have taught him some discipline.”
“The DNA results haven’t been conclusively identified. They don’t have matching samples in their database. Three different individuals were identified in the fluids gathered.”
“Holy mother of God! Three?”
“I am afraid so. There was some kind of wild thing going on there. The strange thing was none of the three matched with the DNA of the baby. So there are four persons of interest, none of which in the national database. Which, of course, suggests it was likely students with no priors. I’m getting our guy to check independently if any of them match Andre’s. That won’t be ready until tomorrow.”
“Isn’t that something?” Antonio said, internalizing for the first time the possibility that his son might have something to do with the crime.
In all the despair, there was an opening that emerged quickly and looked like the last resort defense mechanism. The more people there are the more room for reasonable doubt. His task would be to make sure his son won’t be the last person standing holding his dick out in the open.
