“But… twins, really? Are you sure? Are they sure?”

“The doctor is pretty sure at this point. It’s rare to have two separate fetuses develop, but apparently, it’s even more rare for them to develop different sexes.” My explanation is calm, but I’m trembling with the excitement I’ve been containing.

“A boy and a girl. We’re having a boy and a girl.”

“Right away, it seems,” I state. Drakar laughs, and then he spins me around, making me feel light as a feather.

“We’re having twins!” he yells out, receiving a chorus of congratulations in reply. Setting me down, he looks deeply into my eyes, his own crinkling from the force of his smile.

“You did this, my Sunshine. Never stop lighting my world.”

“No, Drakar,” I disagree, resting his large palm on my widened stomach. “We did this together. This is our family, who will go on to do anything, and who we will do everything for.”

That promise is a contract I seal with a kiss.
