“Two steaks, fries, and enough mac n cheese for both of us. Plus, the grain bowl and the crab cakes?” Jonah repeated.

“Sounds good to me.”

“Good.” Jonah turned away from Felix and slapped the menu against his chest. “You can call while I shower.”

“You’re an asshole,” Felix grumbled.

Jonah snickered. “You love me.”

“I suppose.”

Jonah didn’t linger in the shower, but he was still surprised when the food hadn’t arrived by the time he was done changing into shorts.

“Slow service, huh?” Jonah asked as he stepped out of the bathroom.

“Well, all of us probably ordered at once and …”

Yeah, enough food for a hungry team and their support staff would take a while.

Jonah brightened at the knock on the door. “Oh maybe that’s it.”

But when he pulled the door open it was only Matty on the other side. “Hey. Wanna do something tonight? A bunch of us are meeting in my room and Dominic’s. I’ve got poker, he’s running a blackjack game. Oh, and Colton’s got his Nintendo Switch going if you’re in the mood for that.”

Jonah shook his head. “I think Felix and I will stay in.”

“Oh.” Matty smirked knowingly. “Got it. Say no more.”

“No,” Jonah sputtered. “We just ordered room service is all. I’m hungry.”

“I bet you are.”

Jonah shut the door in Matty’s face, his big booming laugh coming through from the other side.

“He’s such an asshole,” Jonah grumbled. “Why do we put up with him?”

“Because comments like that aside, he’s a sweetheart to us and a monster to our opponents.” Felix didn’t even look up from his phone.

“Right, that.” Jonah paused, staring at Felix. He looked good right now. He was still shirtless, relaxed as he sprawled on the bed.

Oh God, Jonah was going to be sleeping beside him tonight. Knowing that Felix wasn’t 100% straight. That knowledge was driving him absolutely nuts.

What did that even mean?

“What?” Felix said, still staring at his screen. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“You look good,” Jonah said without thinking.

Felix did look up now, smug grin spreading across his face. “I know.”

Jonah wished he had something in his hand that he could throw at Felix’s stupid face. He settled for the soft lob of a pillow. “Not like that. You just seem … more relaxed.”

Felix shrugged, batting it away. “This fake engagement thing really does take a weight off my mind. I feel more … settled.”

“You just like being in relationships, real or not,” Jonah said drily.

“I do.” Felix shrugged, clearly unapologetic. “And trust me, that came up in rehab. I’m looking for love and connection I never felt from my family. I drank to fill that void. I held on to a relationship that was emotionally already over for too long because I was afraid of being alone … blah, blah.”

Jonah stifled a laugh. Felix really did hate all of the work he’d had to do in therapy. But he’d done it anyway and Jonah was proud of him for it. “It’s good you know that.”
