We’d soon be leaving for Sudfarma, and there Leo might assume his new role as king. He had a lot to learn, but then so did I. At least we could learn it together. I looked up and saw the first stars coming out and made a wish like I had when I was a child.
“Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight.”
From behind me in my bed, I heard his voice.
“Can I have your wish?”
“Always.”
“Then I wish for happiness. And you loving me as much as I love you. That’s what I want. That’s all I want.”
I turned and raised my hand over my head. Little sparks appeared in the air over my head and cascaded all around me, like the stars in the sky.
“Then you shall have your heart’s desire,” I said, waving my hand, as I walked slowly back over toward the bed.
