Chapter 1

Amber

“Vegas, baby,” Bree yells. Popping her head out of the car roof, she waves enthusiastically as if she’s a famous personality, before unleashing a loud yell at a group of guys we drive past.

Unfortunately, telling them where we are staying.

Bree’s the extrovert of the group. Regardless of that, she works as a nanny for the children of a high-profile businessman in London, and she needs to let her hair down as much as the rest of us.

Not because of the children, but their father. The less said about that grump, the better.

But when Bree is around, anything can go wrong and with her brilliant ideas—I lie—it’s the worst flipping idea I’ve ever heard. All because Bree, in her wisdom, has upped the ante for this trip.

A one thousand pounds bet on who can do the craziest thing on holiday.

“And as you three are failing spectacularly on the bet, you need to think about how you’re going to grab that grand back from me,” Bree says.

Without a doubt, Bree is the clear winner. Charlie and I wouldn’t stand a chance of doing anything as crazy as she did with the flight attendant in the toilets—gross—on the flight from LA to Vegas.

Bree, being the silliest and most competitive of the group, chose this bet with all intentions of winning. And that’s the reason I’ve mentally transferred the money into her bank account already.

“Are you looking forward to going home?” Charlie asks me while Bree goes back to her antics on the roof of the car.

I’m in the US because I took a year off work in London when I wanted to find my American father. And although my experience of living abroad for a year has been fantastic. I worked with some wonderful people while here, but my father doesn’t wish to be found. And that hurts.

“Of course.” I try to hide that I’m devastated that I couldn’t find him, but I’ve still loved every second of being here.

It’s now time to go home, and I wanted to end my time in the US having a vacation with my UK friends, too. I’m so happy they agreed. We’ve spent one week in Los Angeles. Next is Vegas, and I hope the five days here and then three days in New York are going to top off a fantastic trip—and the end of my American adventure.

Las Vegas would never be my choice for a vacation. Truthfully, I’d prefer to fly to the Bahamas, but my US colleague Sophie invited me to Las Vegas for a bachelorette party for her cousin, Piper.

Hence why we are currently traveling down the Strip.

“How on earth do we beat a mile-high blow job?” Jade asks. “Would sex on the ground beat that?”

Charlie and I would never beat Bree’s mile-high blow job, but Jade—she’s definitely going to try to.

I shake my head. “It would have to be somewhere crazy or public if it were.”

“Striptease on a bar top, or running naked down the strip or through a casino,” Bree says and laughs out loud, her head rearing back. She knows she has this. “You need to forget the bet. I have it in the bag.”

“Don’t spend the money yet.” Jade arches a well-groomed eyebrow. “It isn’t over.”

“Isn’t it?” Bree laughs. “Anyway, we’re nearly there. It’s time to have some fun. My boss gave me a bonus and I’m going to blow it at the casino.”

“Nice. My boss told me to have a pleasant time,” I say.

“Mine told me to make sure he wears a condom,” Jade says, wiggling her eyebrows.

I giggle at that.

“We have the same boss,” Charlie tells Jade.

“Mm. He obviously doesn’t think much of my ability to keep my panties on.” Jade sighs and shakes her head at Charlie as Bree pops her head back out of the roof of the car and continues with her antics.

I know innocent-looking Jade with her honey blonde hair and big hazel-colored eyes has a wild side. Her darker side coming out after a few drinks.

She told me once what she did for extra cash, nothing sexual, but she took some risks.
