“There you are, Britt.” My savior, Teagan, grabs my arm, helping me to stand up. “I’ve been looking all over for you. Uncle Colt has a proposition for you.”
Three identical growls stop me in my tracks.
“Um, what kind of proposition?” I take a step back. I don’t think I can handle too much more of these sexy, alpha Hayes men.
Picking up on my hesitation, Teagen laughs at my innuendo. “Not that kind of proposition, silly.”
The guys relax their shoulders, obviously liking Teagen’s answer.
“Eesh, you really are wound tight. You really need to get laid.”
And just like that, Teagan’s brothers are growling again. I feel my face flush in embarrassment, remembering the last time I got laid. Eighteen months, three days, two hours, and forty-three minutes ago, but who’s counting? And I want to cry because I’m the only one who remembers the most amazing night of my life. Hell, they don’t even know it was me they had sex with.
I hate to guess how many puck bunnies they have had since that night. My heart aches at the thought of being just one of many on their long list of conquests. I shake my head, trying to erase those thoughts.
It’s foolish of me to think they were looking for me when they are obviously here to congratulate their sister on shooting the winning shot that won the team its National Championship.
Pasting a smile on my face, I loop my arm through Teagan’s.
“Goodbye, Torin, Tarek, and Talen. I’ll see you around.” I lift my chin, letting Teagan lead me away from my fantasy lovers. I am thankful for the distraction, but I’m not sure my heart can handle watching them each pick up a woman for the night.
“Oh, you’ll be seeing a lot more of us, Brittany.” I freeze mid-step at Torin’s words, causing Teagen to stumble a little before catching herself. Torin is the only one who calls me by my full name; everyone else shortens it to Britt. I was so caught off guard when I ran into his legs that it hardly registered when he used it the first time.
I turn around to look at Torin, Talen, and Tarek. My mind must be playing tricks on me because, by the gleam in their eyes, I’m afraid they might have figured out my secret identity.
I steel my heart against the fantasy I have of them finding out it was me they all had sex with that night, and instead of being disgusted that I would sleep with all of them on the same night, they would take me in their arms and bed and love me all night long. Letting me live out the fantasy of being owned by all three of them at the same time.
Maybe Kelsey is right. Maybe I am a freak in the sheets. But the only ones I want to get freaky with are my best friend's brothers, and as far as I can tell, they still consider me a punky little kid who always tags along to all their hockey games.
If only I would have had the nerve to show them my face the night of their parent’s Halloween party.
Epilogue two
A Few More Months Later - Teagan
“Ican’t believe this is really happening.” Britt beams at me from behind a large pile of moving boxes. “We are going to be living and working together.”
The proposition my uncle Colt had for Britt was to be the new social media manager of his professional hockey team, the Minnesota Norse. Being the brainiac that she is, Britt graduated a year early. I decided to forgo my senior year at college and entered the NHL draft.
Sure, I didn’t get drafted in the first or second round like Fin and Coulter. I was picked as a free agent like Royal. I’m not sure how Uncle Colt did it, but the four of us ended up on the same team. As exciting as it was to be the first female to sign a contract with an NHL team, I’m even more excited to make my debut in three weeks when the hockey season starts.
My agent Cassi has already brokered a multimillion-dollar deal with a popular athletic wear company. Gearing my line to young girls and females. Using my trademark slogan “From the Logo,” referring to the winning shot I made in the championship game from one of the logos on the ice.
Uncle Colt is determined to win the Stanley Cup this season, so much so that he traded to get the best of the best on his team, my three brothers. He’s kept the deal under wraps and will be making the announcement tomorrow after his and Britt’s weekly meeting.
The only reason I haven’t told Britt is that my brothers asked me not to say anything to her, which seemed a little odd. However, I’m still hoping Britt might end up with one of them, or if she’s as lucky as me, she will end up with all three of them.
I know my relationship with Royal, Fin, and Coulter is unconventional, but it works for us. We hate to be apart from each other for long periods of time, that’s why I agreed to live with them, I just haven’t told Britt yet.
“So, about that.” I bite my lip, unsure of how to tell Britt the next part. “I’m going to live with the guys at their house.”
“What about us? I already posted a notice for two roommates to share our four-bedroom house.” Britt spreads her arms wide, spinning around the room like she’s Vanna White, revealing a new puzzle.
“Don’t worry. I already took care of finding my replacement and two more roommates.”
She frowns at me.
“I think you’re really going to like them,” I say as the doorbell rings. “That must be them.” I hurry across the room and jerk open the front door.
Standing on the other side of the door are my three brothers, each carrying a cardboard box labeled bedroom. I step out of the way to let them pass. Britt watches with her mouth wide open as they each cross the threshold into the house.
The three of them set their boxes down by the staircase before turning their attention back to Britt. “Hey, roomy,” they say in unison as they wrap their arms around Britt in a group hug.
From behind the tight human cocoon my brothers have placed Britt in, I think I hear her say, “Oh, hell no.”
