“Yes!” I say on a sob, happy tears streaming down my face. “Oh, Luke! I can’t wait to marry you!”

He slides the beautiful teardrop emerald ring onto my finger. It’s a perfect fit.

“This was mam’s ring. I think she’d be happy to know you’re the one wearing it.”

I’m crying harder when he stands and takes my face in his hands, using his thumbs to wipe away my tears before kissing me softly.

“You’ve made me the happiest man in the world, Nat. I can’t wait to start the rest of our lives together, starting with taking you home, to our home.”

I nod, letting out a hiccup and unable to tear my eyes away from the beautiful ring. I can’t think of anything else I’d rather do right now.
